🌟 Transformative Moroccan Adventure Itinerary 🌟

Day 1 (January 31, 2025): Welcome to Morocco!

Arrival in Casablanca & Journey to Fes

Your Moroccan adventure kicks off in Casablanca! We'll meet our friendly driver and local guide before diving into the vibrant city center.

We’ll kick things off with a delicious seafood lunch by the ocean. Afterward, we’ll visit the stunning Hassan II Mosque, a true masterpiece perched right on the edge of the Atlantic. This isn’t just any mosque—it's one of the largest in the world that non-Muslims can enter! Prepare to be wowed by its intricate beauty and learn all about its fascinating history.

And of course, we can’t visit Casablanca without stopping by the legendary Rick’s Café, modeled after the iconic café from the movie Casablanca where we will have coffee and sweets. It’s the perfect way to soak up the city’s cinematic charm.

After lunch, we will continue on to Fes where you will check into your riad and have a bit of time to relax from your journey before dinner. What is a riad? The term 'riad' means garden but it is applied to townhouses or a house built around a central courtyard. Typically, the courtyard will have some plants and a central fountain. You might think of this as a mix between a house and a hotel for us. However, this riad has a restaurant and likely a spa as well as our rooms. Dinner at the riad Fes Yamanda.

Day 2 (February 1, 2025): Dive into the Magic of Fes

Today is all about immersing yourself in the wonders of Fes! After a hearty breakfast, we will head out to explore the mesmerizing Medina of Fes, a labyrinth of over 9,000 streets, with our expert local guide. You’ll visit the Royal Palace with its seven gates, the historic Jewish Quarter, and the fascinating Ceramic House where you can see artisans creating beautiful pottery.

Day 3 (February 2, 2025): Continue the Magic of Fes

We’ll visit a serene community where we will dive into aerial yoga, enjoy a meditative retreat from the bustle of the city, and savor a peaceful brunch.  No experience is required and it is suitable for all levels of fitness.

After a peaceful afternoon, we’ll head to the picturesque mountain town of Ifrane, often called "Little Switzerland" for its alpine architecture. You’ll spend the night in the charming Gite Foreste Tagaroumt, where we’ll rise with the sun for an invigorating sunrise hike, meditation and journaling session. We’ll take a short tour of the surrounding mountains before setting off for the desert.

Day 4 (February 3, 2025): Journey to the Desert Oasis

Rise and shine for morning meditation and journaling.  Moroccan mornings are generally cherished as a key part of the day, marked by rituals that reflect the country's rich cultural heritage and the slow-paced lifestyle that many Moroccans enjoy. Here are some typical aspects of how mornings are viewed and spent in Morocco:

Early Start

Many Moroccans start their day quite early, especially in rural areas where people often rise with the sun to begin their daily chores and activities. In cities, the pace might be slightly more relaxed, but mornings are still considered a productive time of the day.

Breakfast: A Social Affair

Breakfast in Morocco is an important meal and is often a family affair. Typical Moroccan breakfast might include breads like khobz or baghrir (Moroccan pancakes), served with honey, olive oil, and various local jams. Beverages could include mint tea, which is a staple in Moroccan culture, or freshly brewed coffee. This meal isn't just about eating; it's a time for family members to gather and discuss their plans for the day.

Mint Tea Rituals

Mint tea, also known as 'Moroccan whiskey,' is central to Moroccan culture and is particularly savored in the mornings. The preparation of mint tea is considered an art form, involving boiling water with green tea and fresh mint leaves, and a significant amount of sugar. The pouring of the tea from a height to create froth is a ritualistic aspect and a sign of hospitality.

Prayer and Reflection

For many Moroccans, the day begins with the first of the five daily prayers (Fajr), which occurs before dawn. This spiritual practice is a vital part of the day for observant Muslims, providing a moment of peace, reflection, and connection to their faith.

Markets and Mornings

In many towns and cities, mornings are a prime time to visit the local markets (souks). These bustling hubs of activity are where people buy fresh produce for the day’s meals, as well as meat, spices, and other necessities. The morning is preferred as it offers cooler temperatures and fresh goods.

Slow Pace

Despite the early start, many parts of Moroccan life embrace a slower pace in the morning. This is a time for easing into the day’s tasks rather than rushing. There's an appreciation for taking one's time, whether it's in preparing a pot of tea or chatting with neighbors.

Overall, mornings in Morocco are a blend of family, food, faith, and community, deeply rooted in the country's traditions and lifestyle. Each element of the morning routine is imbued with cultural significance, making it a uniquely Moroccan experience.  You will get to experience all of this!

Today we’re heading south towards the breathtaking Sahara Desert. We’ll venture into the Azrou Cedar Forest -  to meet the playful wild monkeys—an unforgettable experience.
